REACTING TO ISRAEL'S ENTRY
Israel was the last participating country to choose their entry for this year's Eurovision. The Next Star winner, Kobi Marimi will be singing "Home" at his home country, in Tel Aviv! We are now on the last review of this year's edition!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
I'm in love with Kobi's vocal capacity! It's amazing! I remember watching him perform Fuego, and it was quite amazing, and I have to say I'm a fan of Israel's entry this year. The song is not something unusual, however, it focus on Kobi's vocal strenght and that's what sells it. The way he delivers it makes this song so powerful and unique, and even though it won't stand out as "Toy" did last year, it's definitely a good home country's entry! It's an 8,5 out of 10 for me!
SCORE: 8,5/10
Nina
I respect this, it's a good ballad even though it's not my cup of tea. Kobi has a good voice, and the backing vocalists fit the song quite well. I don't see anyone talking about this, but I hope that what happened to Portugal last year happens to Israel this time. I know how it hurts! It's an 8 out of 10 for me!
SCORE: 8/10
Carina
Kobi has a beautiful voice and I think this is the kind of songs that we surely can notice that the singer is feeling what he is singing. Clearly different from their latest entry and to be honest, better, even though sometimes comparisons should be avoided when it comes to totally different styles. Since they’re automatically qualified, let’s see what happens. If they weren’t, I think that this song would be a qualifier. I’ll give it 7out of 10.

REACTING TO MALTA'S ENTRY
Malta chose its Eurovision 2019 entry through their first ever X-Factor. The winner of the contest, Michela Pace will be singing "Chameleon" in Tel Aviv and we are reviewing it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
This song is trully like a Chameleon! It changes its colours like one, it turns from one music style to another, then hits you with an unexpected drop ("Chama-Chameleon"). Michela can sing, as we witnessed at X-Factor Malta, and she will definitely ace this at Tel Aviv. The music video is really vogue like, very colourful and excentric, also very exotic! This as all the ingredients to be the pop song that will stand out at Eurovision, and I'm hoping the staging is clever so this can get a good finish! I'm giving it a 9 out of 10!
SCORE: 9/10
Nina
Her voice is nice, but the song is a bit annoying in my opinion. It's a cheap pop. The last chorus is the one who should be used in the entirety of the song, and the only part I like in the whole song is the pre-chorus. In my eyes, the song is not well structured and just sounds like a demo. Give me a remote and I'll change the channel! I'm giving it a 6 out of 10!
SCORE: 6/10
Carina
I feel that this song will be very well succeeded in the classification, even though it’s not properly my cup of tea at all. However, I must say that I recognize that the instrumental and enjoyable and catchy. This easily could be played in a pop radio station, in my opinion. Let’s see what happens. I’ll give it a 6,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO ARMENIA'S ENTRY
Armenia opted to go back to choosing their Eurovision entry through Internal Selection. For this year's edition, they are sending Srbuk with her song "Walking Out"! We are reviewing this entry right now!
Have a great day!
Francisco
Armenia's back in game! This song shouts attitude and I absolutely love it! The song itself sounds very modern and it's very well produced, and I think this could easily be a hit if it was sang by a famous artist. Srbuk sounds amazing, embracing the song's attitude, and if she can do that at Tel Aviv, Armenia will certainly be back in the final! I'm giving this a 9 out of 10!
SCORE: 9/10
Nina
A mix of Imagine Dragons and Lauren Jauregui. Love it! Srbuk has a good voice, and the song is so powerful it gives me chills. I hope it qualifies for the final and reaches a good placement. I hope the performance is as good as the song, and I'm giving this a 9,5 out of 10! I'm only not giving it a 10 because I don't know what to expect, but I hope it doesn't disappoint me!
SCORE: 9,5/10
Carina
Hmmmm… I think this song is undoubtedly powerful both in instrumental and vocal terms, but what I felt during all the song was that something was missing. However, I must say that I specially the end of song (more or less from 2:30 until the end). I definitely loved part and that’s why I’m kinda confused about what I feel about this song, since I’m more or less divided. I predict they will have a strong performance and that this will be a song well classified. Being impartial, I’ll give it a 7,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO SWEDEN'S ENTRY
Melodifestivalen 2019 saw John Lundvik, the man who also composed UK's entry for this year, win the right to represent Sweden in Tel Aviv at the Eurovision stage! His song is called "Too Late For Love" and we are reviewing it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
Nothing new about this song. However, it's another level on typical power ballads that we use to see at Eurovision. The song has a somewhat unusual structure that helps it be unpredictable, and John Lundvick ends up giving us a strong and dynamic performance, with the help of his backing vocalists that also help the staging look more powerful. Summed up, this all falls into place and ticks all the boxes, which makes this a contender for the win at Eurovision, and I'm sure it will be another Top 10 finish at Eurovision! My score is a 9 out of 10!
SCORE: 9/10
Nina
New version of "Nobody But You". It gives me some nostalgic vibes, and besides it's not very strong when it comes to the lyrics, the way the melody explodes sounds really well. It's commercial but not like the cheap ones and I could see this in a High School Music kind of movie where they sing this as the last song! My score is an 8 out of 10!
SCORE: 8/10
Carina
When I started listening to this song, I wasn’t expecting to hear a song like this from Sweden. Definitely. I think John has a very good voice and this is a nice song, even though I think the choir ruins almost everything in the chorus and the worst of this is because that is precisely the chorus. In general, it’s a pleasant song, but I feel there’s something missing: it’s not a bad song, but I think this is still far from being a deserved top 10 or something similar. I’ll give it a 6,5 out of 10.
SCORE: 6,5/10

REACTING TO RUSSIA'S ENTRY
Sergey Lazarev is back! He will be representing Russia once again at Eurovision, this time with "Scream". He did take part in Eurovision Song Contest in Stockhom 2016, finishing 3rd place! We are now reviewing his entry, and we hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
Powerful voice, what else to expect from Sergey, right? This song is nothing unfamiliar, and it's actually very different from "You're the only one", but both have a lot of potential to stand out at stage, and we know how Russia can deliver staging at Eurovision! This has all the ingredients to do well, and it's actually one of the bookies' favourites to win the contest. Although I'm not yet convinced it could go all the way, I think it will be a good comeback for Russia. I'm giving it an 8,5 out of 10!
SCORE: 8,5/10
Nina
I've said it once, and I'll say it again: too much screaming doesn't make a song great. This would easily fit a Disney movie. The chorus is too much, please take it off! The staging better be powerful like the instrumental, or this whole screaming will be for nothing. I'm giving it a 7 out of 10!
SCORE: 7/10
Carina
I recognize Sergey can sing, because actually he can and the chorus is powerful and catchy. Sergey is “showing” us that he also can make something very good in another completely different kind of song, but at the same time, I feel that Russia is “hungry” for a victory and they want to win no matter what, and that was only because of that that he was the chosen one. This is what at least I feel, because this song seems slightly a “forced” song, even though that classifications and contests aside, this is a very good song, whose style I love (and the instrumental is sooo good). However, I don’t think this would be a fair winner, even though all the Russian strategies. I’ll give it a 7,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO NORTH MACEDONIA'S ENTRY
North Macedonia chose Tamara Todevska to represent them at the Eurovision stage in Tel Aviv with her song "Proud"! We are now reviewing it on our blog!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
I'll start to say that I don't really like this, and I wouldn't hear it on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, I didn't listen to it as much as I did listen to other entries. However, when this is on, you can't ignore how powerful this sounds, and that's what really surrenders me. Tamara can sing, and this song grows and grows till it reaches the climax and leaves you emotional with it! In such a competitive semi-final like this, I don't know if this will stand out, but it can get the attention of both juries and televoters. I think Macedonia can finally get out of the semis, and I'm giving it an 8 out of 10.
SCORE: 8/10
Nina
Sounds like the typical Eurovision song, and what really stands out here is the message. Besides that, there's nothing different here in comparison to many other songs I've already heard. I do hope the performance is worth it! I'm giving it a 7 out of 10!
SCORE: 7/10
Carina
There are ballads and ballads, but this the kind of them that I love to listen to in Eurovision. I love the power inside her voice and the way she sings/articulate the words. I risk to say that for me this song in particular is waaaay better than “Dance Alone” and “Lost and Found, the last two that Macedonia took to Eurovision. I hope this is the year that Macedonia breaks their “black cloud” of non-qualifications; if this doesn’t happen, I think it’ll be unfair. Maybe a powerful staging can help them to catch people’s attention and consequently to manage a seat on the grand final. I’ll give it a 7,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO AZERBAIJAN'S ENTRY
The last songs presented where mostly internally selected, and Azerbaijan is no different, as usual. They chose Chingiz as their banner-carrier, and he will be singing "Truth" at the Eurovision stage in Tel Aviv. Of course, we are reviewing it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
Modern and very contemporary entry from Azerbaijan! Delivered with some great vocals by Chingiz and a very interesting music video, as well as a good promotion job from Azerbaijan's broadcaster, this has all the ingredients to aspire to a Top 10 finish at Eurovision. It's not the best song in the contest, but it's quite different from the rest of the pop songs that are in this year's contest, and if they manage to get the staging right, this will probably be one to watch out for! I'm really looking forward to see this at the semi-final! I'm giving it an 8,5 out of 10!
SCORE: 8,5/10
Nina
To me, it looks a lot like the type of song that you hear on a fashion parade or clothes shop. It's comercial, it's pleasant to hear, but it's so similar to so many songs that usually play in radio stations. I don't even know what they can do on stage with this. Unfortunately, I don't know what else to say about this song, because it's not really my cup of tea. I'll still give it a 7 out of 10!
SCORE: 7/10
Carina
I have to confess I hadn’t listen to this song before I wrote this yet (this year I’ve been such a miserable eurofan), but wow! From the beginning, this is a catchy song and it’s interesting how azeri entries may have such rhythms more linked to pop and modern songs, but at same they don’t let their roots and own traditional rhythms apart, even though they are only present in some parts of the song. In my opinion, that this song can qualify and reach a good place in the final if correctly perfomed and with a good staging. I’ll give it a 7 out of 10.

REACTING TO POLAND'S ENTRY
Another country who chose its entry through internal selection was Poland! They went with the 4-sister group Tulia, and they will sing "Fire of Love" at the Eurovision stage in Tel Aviv. We are reviewing it, and we hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
If someone told me I would like traditional music like this, I wouldn't be so sure. However, Tulia have amazing combined melodies, and this, despite not having many changes throughout the entirety of the song, manages to look beautiful and definitely represents Poland well for its culture. The instrumental, while traditional, also includes some more modern sounds, which manages to not leave this outdated. Personally, I do like, but I don't love it, and I don't know if this will qualify. It's definitely on the race for borderline qualification, but they have to deliver it big time in Tel Aviv. Maybe there will be more likeable songs in semi-final 1 which will overshadow this entry. I'm giving it an 8 out of 10.
SCORE: 8/10
Nina
It's been a while since a group with traditional clothes came in to the contest. I love when this happens at Eurovision, but incredibly, I don't really find it captivating this time. The melody is nice, it's ethnic with a bit of folk pop. They have really good voices but the lyrics aren't anything special and I'm almost certain this will sit out of the final. At least they tried... I'm giving it a 6 out of 10.
SCORE: 6/10
Carina
Here we have again a traditional entry from Poland, just like in 2014. I like both the rhythm and the lyrics and I risk to say that I really enjoyed the last one the most. However, even though I know they are a band, I have to say that I found that the combination of their voices made the song boring and tiring in a certain way. I’ll give it a 5,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO AUSTRIA'S ENTRY
Paenda was the artist chosen by Austria to represent the nation in Tel Aviv for Eurovision 2019. This was another country that decided to chose its entry via internal selection. She will be performing "Limits" and we are reviewing it!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
Probably the least memorable entry of the year. Although it doesn't have anything wrong about it, it also doesn't have any good things about it either. It just looks flat and dull, with no major changes to it for 3 minutes. After Cesar Sampson last year, I think Austria took a major stepback and I can't see them qualifying in no way, especially when they have so many good entries in their semi-final this year. I can obviously change my mind after seeing it live of course, but as it is, it's just a boring song and I'm giving it a 4 out of 10.
SCORE: 4/10
Nina
The song sounds like something modern but the "you"s on the chorus are way too repetitive. The instrumental takes us to another dimension, there are no limits. However, I was hoping for some rythmic changes that never came, so it makes it really forgettable for me. I don't know how this will go, but I think it's doomed to stay in the semi. At least I hope the performance is somewhat incredible and futuristic. I'm giving it a 7 out of 10.
SCORE: 7/10
Carina
I didn’t know very well what should I expect when I started to listen this song. From the first verses, I immediately noticed the softness of her voice, but I confess I was hoping there was going to be a more explosive moment. Because of that, this is a different song in that aspect, but it’s also true that it’s a very calm and relaxing song in a good way, since her voice is enjoyable to listen to. In general terms, I think that this Austria will have to struggle if they want to qualify; but on the other hand, there is a possibility that this song can be a dark horse and consequently the biggest surprising qualifier. I’ll give it a 5,5 out of 10.

REACTING TO IRELAND'S ENTRY
Ireland, as its been usual, is one of several countries that chose its song through internal selection, and they chose to send Sarah McTernan with the song "22". We are now reviewing this in our blog!
Hope you enjoy it!
Francisco
It's not a bad song from Ireland, in some way, there's a similar approach as last year's song, but that at least was easier to ear, and they managed to do a great job with staging, finishing at a respectable place at the final. I don't think it will happen this year because this song is so irrelevant and forgettable that it will be hard to find a staging that can push this up to a qualification spot. There's also love for this, it's a pleasant song in some way, but unfortunately, at times I just forget this even exists, and I think it's doomed. I'll give it a 4 out of 10!
SCORE: 4/10
Nina
Is this Taylor Swift with "I don't know about you but I'm feeling 22"? I love the vintage vibe, it's simple and the melody uplifts my mood. Unfortunately, I don't see this getting to the final, but if it would depend on me, it would get a good spot at the final. I'm giving it a 9 out of 10!
SCORE: 9/10
Carina
Well, it’s a chill song and very pleasant to listen to while relaxing or something similar, besides that Sarah has a nice voice, but I don’t see nothing more than this in this song. It’s not bad, but I don’t think it’s good enough to deserve a place in the final. However, there’s always some surprises (remember Lithuania last year?) and this may change until the official performance. I’ll give it a 5,5 out of 10.
