REACTING TO SPAIN'S ENTRY

On January 21, it was Spain's turn to choose its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. Keeping the same method as last year, the representative was picked using 'Operación Triunfo', and Miki was the one who came out stronger between the Spanish Public with his song "La Venda".
Once again, here on WesternVision, we will react to it and evaluate the song with multiple opinions written by our team!
Hope you enjoy the article!

"La Venda" is one of those typical famous spanish/latin songs that you usually hear on the radio, but the difference here is that, at the same time, it has almost nothing to do with those typical songs. You might find some of those songs kinda disposable, while "La Venda" has nothing disposable about it. The song often reminds me of Carnaval in my hometown which is the most brazilian one in Portugal, and I'm pretty sure I would see a lot of people crazily jumping to this song if it went on in some of the clubs, and the best thing is, you don't even need to be at Carnaval to do that, it could be at any time of the year, at everywhere. I would even go crazy with this at Christmas Eve! The song is cheerful, it's almost impossible not to smile when you're listening to it. It's clearly a party song, and a very good one. This is the kind of party we are hoping Spain can bring to the Eurovision stage, a kind of party that only they can throw, and almost everyone likes. Now, talking about Miki's performance at the OT Eurovision Gala, we can feel all of the song's energy to the max through his delivery on stage. The song doesn't showcase a great vocal capacity by Miki, instead it turns to all the power he gives to the performance so the song can be interpreted at its full potential. I'm still not sure about how well this can do in Tel Aviv, personally, I think staging wise it doesn't need much, only improve some details and adapt it to the stage so it can have the party vibe all over the arena and make anyone go bananas with it. While the public may love it, I'm not that sure about the juries as they often don't take this kind of acts seriously, but if it is in fact very well performed, then anything is possible. Ratings wise, I must say I love this song and I would definitely play it in a club or a party or anywhere whenever I want to feel a little bit more motivated and hopeful, so I'm giving this a 9 out of 10. And that is my review on the Spanish entry for ESC 2019, "La Venda", hope you enjoy it, and all the luck in the world for Miki in May at Israel!

SCORE: 9/10

With a characteristic sound of trumpets and a pop-oriented song, La Venda is a catchy and easy-earing song. With the most festive part reinforced by the recent music video, and also by the cheering coreographies and Miki's energy that complement the song, this kinda reminds us of a Coca-Cola or World Cup commercial. I'll give this a 6 out of 10.

I understand that the majority of the Eurovision public will appreciate this kind of joyful music that reminds us of Carnaval, and has an anti-depressive message, but for me, in this case, seeing a group of people pretending to play instruments, jumping and singing is nothing that convinces me, because there are a lot of songs like this in village parties around Portugal, where no one cares about the quality of the songs, you just want something cheerful to dance. Personally, I was never a fan of Miki's voice, neither did I ever understand the hype around this song, I didn't like the demo. However, the song fits Miki's personality (and whoever saw OT knows that) and he can make the public go wild. Since Spain is already in the final, I think this will stay around mid-table this year. My rating is a 6 out of 10.

SCORE: 6/10
