REACTING TO ITALY'S ENTRY

Mahmood's song may be considered the one with the most powerful lyrics this year, even though it is sang in Italian, which is a language not everyone can understand. It tells us a story of an unpresent father who only cared about money instead of his family. "Soldi", translated to english, means "Money" by the way. The song is a typical modern pop song with some unordinary elements, which make the music sound unique, and Mahmood's voice also doesn't let anyone down. He has a strong, yet beautiful voice which gives the song a more deep feeling, and we can feel some of his pain as he sings it. This is a type of song that I would like to see more at Eurovision, even though we can't really understand what's going on, and even though it isn't flashy, you can feel a lot of emotions and still like the music. This, in my opinion is quality, and I do believe it would stand out internationally if it was from a well-known artist. For that reason I'm thinking of this as a contender to win Eurovision and I'll give it a 9,5 out of 10 rating.

SCORE: 9,5/10

I'm sorry, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but... I can't like this song, and I can't even listen to it. Both the melody and his voice sound a little dissonant and not really harmonic. I get that the lyrics have their meaning, and Italy is an expert when it comes to meaningful lyrics, but for me it's the only thing in favour for this song. I'm sorry, but for me it's a No. I'll give it 4 out of 10.

SCORE: 4/10

I get so addicted to the rythme of this, and I find the clapping in the chorus really catchy. The song is hip-hop oriented, which I personally like, and the message fits perfectly in that style. Mahmood's performance is excellent in my opinion, his voice fits in the song perfectly and the way he looks at the camera and transmits in a perfect way what he wants to transmit deserves an high score, so I'll be giving this a 9 out of 10.

SCORE: 9/10

OTHER RATINGS:

Joana: 8/10
Martim: 8,5/10

AVERAGE SCORE: 7,8

Can Mahmood finally get the win Italy's been longing since their return to the contest? Let us know in the comments section!

Have a great day!
