REACTING TO MONTENEGRO'S ENTRY

Montevizija 2019 brought to us the Montenegrin group D Mol who will sing "Heaven" at the Eurovision stage next May! As per usual, we will have our say in this entry, so we hope you like what we have to say!

Well, to be honest, I didn't really follow Montenegro's Selection because it is already hard for me to follow National Selections, but regarding the song... It's a no for me, unfortunately. To start of, the song feels like it's from last century, the lyrics sound really overused as I feel I've heard this a million times. Overall, the song feels like a Christmas song that comes in every holy season album every single year, and it wouldn't be less painful to listen to this if it was Christmas. The group have really good melodies, being the only positive thing I can get out of this, however, I think it's a wrong choice to give this song to a group, as I do believe it would fit a duo or even one singer. Regarding the staging, I don't really like how they basically just stay almost still throughout the whole number, but I don't really have an idea of how Montenegro can give this act even a glimpse of hope at qualifying for the final in May. The revamp made it more pleasant to hear, but I don't think it will do miracles for this song. Thus said, I will give this a 5 out of 10.

SCORE: 5/10

This song is really generic, I have heard this millions of times before, and even though their melodies sound really great, unfortunately, not even that can save this song from being an almost certain non-qualifier in their semi-final. My score is a 4 out of 10.

Is it a trend to hate this song? I confess that I like it more before the revamp, but after it, it got an extra ethnic vibe, which is always something welcome at Eurovision. I know it probably won't go through the semi-final, unfortunately, because it's one of my favorite songs this year. Its melody gives me nostalgia, because I used to hear lots of music that sound like this, and with the combined voices, this sounds really harmonic. However, I don't know what they intend to do staging wise, but I hope they have great ideas, once this doesn't have a lot of fans, and surely they don't want people to get completely bored out. I won't! It's a 9 out of 10.

SCORE: 9/10

OTHER RATINGS:
