REACTING TO LATVIA'S ENTRY

Supernova 2019 came to a conclusion, with Carousel being chosen to be Latvia's representatives for Eurovision 2019. The song they will be performing at the Eurovision stage next May in Tel Aviv is called "That Night", and we are going to review it!

Personally, I find this song pure gold. The performance at Supernova got the song an extra force, as the mood created by the monochromatic color scheme really elevated the song and left us in that world, making us able to feel the emotions that the lead singer wanted to transmit, and that's a signal of quality, that's what we want a song to be able to do when we put it on stage, and I really felt this performance. Just a quick note, I think this is a perfect song for a sunset, I've heard it during that time of the day, and it's when the song reaches its full beauty. On the other hand, the song really lacks in strenght and it's a bit repetitive overall, and since not everyone likes this type of song as I do, it may really hurt its chances of qualifying for the Grand Final. I'll rate this song 7,5 out of 10, even though I really like it, I cannot ignore its weaknesses, but still, 7,5 is a pretty good score!

Nina

This song's instrumental is really simple and her voice makes it very pleasant. However, the chorus is a bit boring, and the song turn into an authentic sleepy carousel. It's ideal when you want to hear something that makes you feel in peace and quiet. It looks like Latvia will stay in the semi-final again this year. It's a 6 out of 10.

The song begins with a smooth acoustic guitar melody which gives me a chilling vibe, and so it continues when the singer starts singing. Seems to me that due to this western touch, the song would suit a cowboys' movie soundtrack. The main singer has a beautiful voice and feels what she is singing. It's a great song for those who want to read a book or just have a relaxed day at home, but unfortunately it's not my cup of tea, so I'll stick with a 6 out of 10 for my score.
